Paediatric Respiratory Health Section Project Grant

The Paediatric Respiratory Health Section Project grant was created to encourage scholarly, knowledge translation, advocacy or quality improvement initiatives related to pediatric respiratory medicine.   It is intended to support the work of a pediatric resident who has an interest in the field of Paediatric Respirology.   Projects will be chosen based on their relevance to the field of pediatric respirology and feasibility for completion within the two year timeframe. Created by the CPS Respiratory Health Section, the grant will provide $2,000 in funding for selected projects.

Nominations

Applicants must:

• Be members of the CPS; and
• Be a pediatric resident enrolled in a Canadian residency program
• Have a faculty supervisor, ideally with expertise in the field of Pediatric Respirology

Upon completion of the project, recipients must submit a project summary report (which can take the form of a paper submitted for publication or an abstract submitted for presentation at a conference). The completed project will also be presented at the Annual Respiratory Health Section Business Meeting. The project is expected to be completed within 2 years of receipt of the grant, although an extension may be granted if a progress report is submitted that explains the reason for the delayed completion.

Submissions

Applications must be submitted using the online application form. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered. Submissions must include:

• A project proposal (maximum 2 pages, not including citations), including:
  • Goal of project and relevance to pediatric respiratory medicine
  • Scope of project (clinical care, education, quality improvement, advocacy, knowledge translation);
  • Background;
  • Detailed description, including: context in which project will be conducted, project methodology with rationale, data to be collected, data sources, data analysis;
  • Dissemination plan
